The Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club's 6th Annual Rock 'n Reel Hawaiian Open Fishing Tournament just completed reminds the Big Game Fishing World why Kona is the Blue Marlin Capital of the World.
29 boats tagged and released or caught 24 blue marlin (20 of which were tagged and released), 1 striped marlin (tagged), 1 spearfish (tagged), 4 ahi (yellowfin tuna over 100 pounds - largest 213.5#) during the 2 day event.
The fishing team on the "Chiripa" with Captain Bill Crawford was crowned Grand Champion with 750 points, tagging and releasing 3 blue marlin (150 to 250 pounds).
The fishing team on the "Tara II" with Captain Scott Fuller, finished second with the largest blue marlin of the tournament, weighing in at 568.5 pounds.
