HBGFC - Rock 'n Reel Hawaiian Open

5th Annual ROCK 'N REEL HAWAIIAN OPEN
July 13 - 15, 2007

The Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club invites you to come join the fun and excitement of our 5th Annual Rock 'n Reel Hawaiian Open! Two evenings of excellent food and entertainment provided by the Hooters Restaurant. Beverages are compliments of Anheuser-Busch. Pacific Rim Fishing Supplies is donating merchandise for special prizes. There will be drawings at every radio roundup and additional drawings during the evening functions.

There will be two days of great fishing on the calm Kona coast waters. Compete for great prizes generously donated by Shimano Reels and Pat Brian Custom Rods. Optional side pools are available, small to large, for those who feel lucky.

Entry Fee:
$500 per boat/team. Boat/team consists of 4 anglers and 2 crew. Additional anglers over 4 (up to 6 total) will be $25 per person.

Optional Entries:
All boat/teams must be entered in the tournament to participate in the Optional Entries (see "Awards" for Optional Entry Fees).

Registration:
At least one member, preferably the captain from each team, must register prior to "Start Fishing" of the tournament. Registration location will be at the HBGFC club house from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2007. Any pre-registered teams should check in at the HBGFC club house during this time for confirmation and to receive their packets.

Briefing:
The tournament briefing will be held from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the HBGFC club house, Friday, July 13, 2007. At least one member of the team or crew should be present at the briefing.

Fishing Days and Start/Stop Times:
The fishing days are Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, 2007.
The Start/Stop times will be announced on the radio. Start fishing is 7:30 AM, stop fishing 3:30 PM, dock time is 6:00 PM on both days.

Rules and General Issues:
IGFA Rules will apply to all catches. All IGFA line classes, up to 130 pound, will be treated equally.

Only fish caught on rod and reel, trolling or drift fishing, will qualify. Live bait may not be passed between boats, and cannot be caught prior to the start of fishing. Live bait and dead bait must be rigged with circle hooks only. Lures can be rigged with conventional hooks.

SCORING

This is a Total Points Team Tournament.

Boated Marlin 300 pounds and over are eligible for points, 1 point per pound
(310 pound marlin = 310 points).

Boated Ahi 100 pounds and over are eligible for points, 5 points per pound, over 100 pounds (110 pound ahi = 50 points). Total of three (3) ahi per team allowed.

Boated Mahimahi 25 pounds and over are eligible for points. 1 point per pound, over 25 pounds (30 pound mahimahi = 5 points).

Boated Ono 25 pounds and over are eligible for points. 1 point per pound, over 25 pounds
(30 pound ono = 5 points).

Tagged and released Blue or Black Marlin = 250 points.

Tagged and released Striped Marlin, Sailfish or Spearfish = 50 points.

All tagged and released fish must have an identifiable photo from the camera provided by HBGFC.

Total points accumulated through both days of the tournament will determine the Grand Champion Fishing Team.

AWARDS
Cash awards, based on 50 teams. $500 x 50 = $25,000.
Most Tagged & Released Points – 10% = $2,500
Balance = $22,500
1st Place Team – 50% = $11,250
2nd Place Team – 25% = $5,625
3rd Place Team – 15% = $3,375
4th Place Team – 10% = $2,250
