We have both: an online registration form for those paying with a credit card, as well as a printable form, for those wishing to pay with cash or a check. Please make sure to read all of the rules before entering. All mainland checks must be in no later than one week prior to tournament start date!

2026 Marlin Magic Lure Tournament Rules

ENTRY FEE:
Base Entry Fee is $2,000.00 per boat/team, six angler maximum. Plus Optional Jackpots: Largest Marlin of the Day, Most Released Marlin of the Day*, and OMNI Division.
* As of 2025, the Released Marlin Optional is now a DAILY JACKPOT! Both days must be entered. Please see our rules for more information.
Please note:
- All entry fees by out of state check must be submitted by June 15th, and all checks must be written out to: Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club (memo: MM Lure Tournament).

Day 1: July 1, 2026- Lines in 7:00am Lines out 4:00pm
Day 2: July 2, 2026- Lines in 7:00am Lines out 4:00pm

June 30th, @ Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club (5PM-7PM).
All teams please come to Registration Night! Late registration will be accepted the morning after, at the Fuel Dock, up until Start Fishing.

MARLIN MAGIC LURE TOURNAMENT- Base Entry Fee
Base Entry fee is $2,000.00
Distribution of Winnings
- Cash payout for winners will equal 90% of Base Entry Fee.
- Payout monies for the base entry will be distributed per the following example, based on 10 boats entering base entry of tournament or $20,000.00 in Base Entry Fee:
1st Place = 60% = $ 10,800.00
2nd Place = 40% = $ 7,200.00
3rd Place = 0% = NO payout for Third Place
Less than 6 boats entered, winner takes all prize money
MARLIN MAGIC LURE TOURNAMENT- Optional Jackpots:
Largest Marlin of the Day:
- Entry Fee options for this division are: $100.00, $300.00, $500.00, $1,000.00, and $2,000.00 (per day).
- It is required that you enter BOTH days for this division!
Distribution of Winnings
- Cash payout for winners will equal 90% of entry. Payout monies will be in cash/check.
- Largest marlin over 400 pounds of each day wins.
- In the event that a marlin over 400 pounds is only weighed on one day and not the other, the payout monies from both days will be awarded to the largest marlin overall.
Most Released Marlin of the Day:
- Entry fee is $1,000.00 (per day).
- It is required that you enter BOTH days for this division!
Distribution of Winnings
- Cash payout for winners will equal 90% of entry. Payout monies will be in cash/check.
- Most Release(s) of each day wins.
- In the event of a tie, first boat to record the last release wins.
- In the event that there are releases on only one day and not the other, the payout monies from both days will be awarded to the boat with the most releases overall.
- All released fish must be called in at hook up and at time of release
- Fish must be recorded on still picture or video, while on leader
- Fish must be identified by the picture or video
- Crew must call in to get photo description for the photo. Example: Hold up tag flag
- Recommend doing this before fish is boat side….
“MUST BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY WIRE MAN ON LEADER, HAND SIGN, AND FISH IN THE SAME ONE PHOTO OR VIDEO”

OMNI Jackpot Division:
- Entry fee is $5,000.00
Distribution of Winnings
- Cash payout for winners will equal 95% of entry. Payout monies will be in cash/check.
- Largest Marlin over 400 pounds wins. This is a winner take all division.
Although this optional division has been created around boats that have OMNIs, it is NOT required that you have an OMNI to enter.

MARLIN MAGIC LURE TOURNAMENT- Official Rules
1. IGFA rules are in effect (IGFA Official Rules). Shotgun start BOTH mornings, at the green buoy outside of Honokohau Harbor. Must maintain contact for roundups.
2. All Lines classes up to 130 pounds are considered equal.
3. Hook ups will be reported to tournament control via VHF radio Channel 68.
4. All captured fish must be called in and include short measurement of fish, weigh in at Jack’s Diving Locker (the fuel dock).
5. In the event of a tie, based on weight of fish, the fish boated first will be declared the winner.
6. Lure trolling only, no live bait permitted.
7. *All qualifying fish must meet or exceed 400 pounds.
8. All protests must be submitted on the day of infraction by captains viewing said infraction.
9. All fish weighed will be subject to the review of the independent tournament committee.
